The Balfour Scholars Program partnered with the Office of Mentoring Services and Leadership Development to provide current Indiana University Bloomington (IUB) Balfour scholars with the opportunity to participate in the Mentor Apprenticeship Program.
The Mentor Apprenticeship Program (MAP) is a one semester intensive training facilitated by the FASE Mentoring Program. MAP offers first year students at IUB the opportunity to enhance mentoring and leadership skills for the purpose of developing students to competently lead in diverse environments.
The mentor training is facilitated through short mini-lessons and group discussions which focus upon:
- Leadership strengths
- Personal leadership styles
- Event planning
- Teamwork and team building
Upon the completion of the MAP Program, students will have obtained a skill set that will allow them to excel in both mentoring and student leader positions.
